Chapter 2 is hatching

The Barnyard Zoo

The Quail House

Tiny birds. Big personalities. Local quail hatching, care, rehab support, and tiny barnyard chaos in the North Okanagan.

The reboot

The barnyard looks a little different now.

The Barnyard Zoo began as a real farm petting zoo. The animals have since moved on to good homes, but the name, the heart, and the ridiculous little personalities never really left.

Welcome to Chapter 2: The Quail House.

Today, The Barnyard Zoo is Amanda’s small but mighty corner of quail hatching, care, rehab support, and local bird-loving chaos.

What started as hatching eggs has slowly turned into a helpful local resource. Vet clinics, bird owners, and word of mouth have started sending injured, abandoned, or struggling quail her way when help is needed.

Same name. New flock. Much smaller feet.

What happens here

Hatching, helping, and managing tiny drama.

Quail are cute, fast, messy, loud when they feel like it, and somehow always involved in something suspicious.

Quail Hatching

Hatching eggs, chicks, and started birds may be available from time to time, depending on season, space, and what the tiny committee has decided.

Setup Advice

Amanda can help with basic quail setup questions, beginner mistakes, brooder needs, feed, heat, housing, and what people should know before getting started.

Care Support

When possible, Amanda helps with injured, abandoned, weak, or struggling quail. Space and timing matter, but the goal is always to give the bird a proper chance.

Small eggs. Big opinions.

The hatching side of The Barnyard Zoo is where the tiny chaos begins. Warm brooders, little feet, fast learning, and more personality than anything that small should legally be allowed to have.

Quail may be tiny, but they are real animals with real needs. Good setup matters. Heat matters. Feed matters. Clean bedding matters. And yes, they will absolutely find a way to make it weird.

Recovery support

Found a quail that needs help?

Amanda may be able to help with injured, abandoned, weak, or struggling quail depending on the situation, available space, and the condition of the bird.

The Barnyard Zoo is not a veterinary clinic. For urgent medical concerns, please contact a licensed veterinarian first.

If the bird is cold, injured, weak, or unable to stand, keep it warm, quiet, and safe while you figure out the next step. A clear photo is very helpful.

Suggested care donation

$10 per bird

A suggested care donation of $10 per bird is appreciated when possible. This helps cover feed, bedding, heat, recovery supplies, power, cleaning, and the time that goes into giving each little bird a proper chance.

Donations are appreciated but never required. The goal is to help the birds, not make things harder for people trying to do the right thing.

Meet the cast

The Tiny Chaos Crew

Every good barnyard needs a cast of characters. The quail may be small, but they bring enough attitude to fill the whole barn.
